Parents, politicians march against public school bus stops

The Calgary Association of Parents and School Councils is pushing the Calgary Board of Education to do better on travel times.

The group handed a petition of 1,300 signatures to the CBE Tuesday afternoon after a walk from McDougall Centre Park to its headquarters on 8th Street SW.

One parent, Lisa Davis said they’re asking for a return to last years’ service levels and an independent third party review.

“We’re really here looking for assistance from our elected representatives to help take this message to Minister Eggen that we need change and we need change before winter,” she said.

Wildrose MLA Derek Fildebrandt said there is a black hole of funding at the CBE and serious questions about why more money isn’t going directly to students.
