Parents Association protests long walk times to school bus stops

The Calgary Association of Parents and School Councils are hoping to convince the Board of Education to change its bus policy.

CAPSC is holding ‘Walk a Kilometre in my Shoes’, taking the 1.8 kilometre journey that kids make to the bus stop every morning and afternoon.

President Lisa Davis tells 660 NEWS, parents just don’t think that’s reasonable.

“We had close to 1300 people sign the petition, hundreds of letters into MLAs and trustees. The reality is that parents are saying we live in a winter city and to say it’s reasonable for a child to walk thirty minutes to get to the bus stop is a bit crazy,” added Davis.

The walk starts at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning at McDougall Centre Park and heads to the CBE meeting on 8 Street.
