New police chief to be named

A new police chief is about to be appointed in Calgary.

Multiple media reports say Deputy Chief Robert Chaffin will be introduced at a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

Chaffin has been with the CPS since 1986 and he currently oversees the Bureau of Organizational Support.

He will be replacing Rick Hanson who stepped down to run for the Progressive Conservative Party in the provincial election back in the spring, and lost.

Chaffin was one of three in the running for the new title.
