Okotoks RCMP call ‘fake police officer’ luring report a misunderstanding

RCMP in Okotoks say a report of a fake police officer trying to lure a young girl into her vehicle Thursday was all a misunderstanding.
Police say the 11-year-old told her parents she was approached by a woman who engaged her in conversation, showed her a badge and offered the young girl a ride home.
After further investigation, they have determined the person was in fact a real Calgary police officer and there’s nothing to be concerned about.
They do say the girl did the right thing by telling her parents about the encounter.
