Airdrie RCMP charge two in fitness centre shooting

RCMP have arrested one suspect, but have warrants out for another after a weekend shooting in Airdrie.

A 39 year-old was shot three times, in his wrist, thigh and back early on Sunday morning near a fitness centre on Mackenzie Way, but he is expected to make a full recvoery.

35-year-old Michael Sharman of Calgary was arrrested Friday and has been charged with seven offence, among them aggravated assault, pointing a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon

There is now a warrant out for the second suspect, 21-year-old Mathew Van Schiak, whose charges include aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, carrying a concealed weapon, and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

They think he might be driving a gold 2002 Pontiac Grand Am with Alberta plates BRX 3441.

He’s believed to be driving east from Alberta and is considered armed and dangerous.
