Sports Equipment Bank helps kids afford pricey hockey gear

Cost can be a big obstacle for kids wanting to play Canada’s favourite pastime.

Troubled economic times mean more and more families need help getting their kids outfitted for the hockey season, and that’s where Comrie’s Sports Equipment Bank comes in.

The bank has partnered with several agencies like KidSport to break down financial barriers.

General Manager Russell Gillespie tells City News, there are a lot of ways the public can help as well.

“There are a number of donation bins around town that you can check, that’s just on our website, and also they can also check our shop hours, we have limited hours for volunteers to come help us out but also for larger donations.” Gillespie said.

He adds that they are especially in need of size nine skates.
