Easter Seals Drop Zone is a long fall for a good cause

Adventurous Calgary thrill seekers will set their sights high Thursday.

It’s the 10th annual Easter Seals Drop Zone, where challengers leap from a 30-storey building in support of Albertans living with disabilities.

There are 13 returning rappellers from 2014.

“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year” said Jamie Anderson who is the event manager, adding the goal is $300,000.

Calgary Flames Assistant General Manager Craig Conroy is in for the big leap.

“Well I was actually having lunch, and I was approached, and they said would you like to do the Drop ZOne? It’s 30 storeys, and I thought ‘oh I can do that’, and then I went to a building downtown three days later, and I was on the 35th floor and I was like: ‘why do I say yes to everything, I should have said no’, but it is a good cause,” Conroy joked.

If you’re downtown, look up, well dressed, or costumed jumpers, rappel Sun Life Plaza on 4 Avenue throughout the day on Thursday.
