Canadian Blood Services asks Calgarians to donate before long weekend

Canadian Blood Services is hoping Calgarians will take time out to make a donation before heading off for the long weekend.

The agency is currently holding their Childhood Cancer Awareness campaign this month and Susan Matsumoto with CBS said they’ll have a special guest for donors on Friday at one of their clinics.

“Nathan Magnessen and his mother Charlene will be in the clinic to thank local donors for donating blood to encourage new individuals to become blood donors,” Matsumoto said, “He was recently diagnosed with high-risk B-cell luekemia and blood products play a key roll in his ongoing treatment.”

Matsumoto described Nathan as an active 14-year-old.

There are actually two campaigns this month.

The other is call Life Saving September.

Donations are particularly critical heading into a long weekend.
