Air quality advisory lifted for Calgary area

Alberta Health Services has lifted the Air Quality Advisory for the Calgary area, even though our meteorologist says some smoke could return Tuesday night.

AHS says Calgary is no longer being impacted by smoke from forest fires burning in the northwestern United States.

It also says air quality can and will vary depending on weather conditions and prevailing winds.

660 NEWS meteorologist David Spence says smoke could return briefly tonight, as the wind blows from the southwest.

The Calgary Fire Department says a fire ban remains in effect, but it could be lifted as early as today.
