Police charge driver with impaired driving in pedestrian death

Calgary Police have charged a man in a fatal pedestrian crash along 17 Avenue S.E.

A man in his 40s was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street at 52nd Street around 9:45 p.m., Sunday night.

He was thrown 20 metres and died at the scene.

Roads in the area were closed for several hours while police investigated.

William Edward Grimm, 66, has been charged with impaired driving causing death and impaired driving over .08 causing death.
