Liam and Olivia most popular 2014 AB baby names

When it comes to the most popular baby names in Alberta, there are two reigning champs.

The province says Liam was the top baby name for boys for the third year running in 2014, while Olivia was the most popular for girls for the second year in a row.

Albertans are turning to popular culture for some inspiration, as other popular picks included Tyrion from Game of Thrones, Primm from the popular Hunger Games trilogy and Sookie from True Blood.

Unusual choices included Thunderboy, Goodness, Huckleberry and Innocent for boys.

For girls, parents chose names such as Valkyrie, Meadow, Melon, Disney, and Bandit.

Alberta parents welcomed more than 55,587 babies into the world in 2014, 27,147 of them were girls and 28,440 were boys.
