Canadian Blood Services in need of donations as long weekend approaches

With the long weekend looming, Canadian Blood Services is looking to stock up on donations.

The national inventory has declined this summer so the agency is pleading with people to give blood before and after the August long weekend.

Some clinics in the Calgary area will be open over the holiday to try to accommodate summer travel plans.

The number of serious vehicle crashes typically sees a significant spike during holiday weekends. It can take up to 50 blood donations to help just one person.

The following area clinics will be open at select times:

Saturday: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
