Calgary man reunited with priceless stolen rugby jerseys

A Calgary man is overjoyed after he was reunited with some priceless items stolen from his Windsor Park area garage.

Dave Lougheed’s 30 rugby jerseys, three sets of golf clubs and a bike were taken from the southwest property on July 9. They hold a combined value of over $20,250.

The investigation took a big step forward four days after the theft when police received a hot tip; a member of the public spotted a box full of jerseys fall out of the back of a truck.

A picture of the vehicle directed police to three suspects and all of the stolen goods.

Speaking at a media conference at Police Headquarters, Lougheed said it was nothing short of amazing.

“That is one of those things, once you know it’s gone you never expect to see it come back but obviously with the jerseys, to see all 30 of them back here it’s amazing,” Lougheed said whilst holding up a blue jersey from Italy’s rugby union. “The support and everything from the community has been fantastic.”

Lougheed said he is now going to find a more fitting place for his jerseys, all game-worn and traded during his career.

He’ll be moving them from the garage to put them on prominent display in his house.

Three people are facing multiple charges after the theft.

Brian Clow, 24, has been charged with three counts of break and enter to commit an offence, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of breach of a recognizance, one count of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000. He will next appear in court on July 24, 2015.

Trisha Clow, 25, has been charged with break and enter to commit an offense, and two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000. She was also arrested in relation to 27 outstanding criminal code warrants and five traffic safety act warrants. She will next appear in court on July 30, 2015.

Tyler Swain, 26, has been charged with three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, and two counts of breaching an undertaking. He will next appear in court on July 24, 2015.
