NDP to make cancer centre announcement

We’ll get a better idea of what the new NDP government’s plans are for a Calgary Cancer Centre Wednesday.

Health Minister Sarah Hoffman is scheduled to hold a presser at 10:30 a.m. at the Foothills Hospital to discuss the topic.

The Foothills campus was the proposed site of the $1.3-billion, one-stop cancer hospital two years ago under former Premier Alison Redford.

During the election campaign, NDP Leader Rachel Notley promised to build the long-promised centre after criticizing the PC government’s decision to build a smaller, cheaper version of the original vision at a different location.
