Dozens charged in Calgary prostitution stings

The Calgary Police Service has laid several charges in relation to two prostitution stings that took place earlier this year.
One four-day operation, held between March 24 and March 27, targeted known strolls in the Beltline and Forest Lawn Industrial Areas, identified as being problem locations by police and the community.
During the operation, 32 individuals were charged with obtaining sexual services for consideration.
During the second operation, which ran from June 22 to June 25, police specifically targeted offenders attempting to purchase sexual services online from underage females.
Following a four-day operation, four individuals were arrested.
Nam Voong, Muneeb Uddin Alvi and Mark Kennedy from Calgary, as well as Justin James Harder from Ontario but living in Calgary, are facing various charges.
It is estimated that 90 to 95 per cent of prostitution occurs indoors, facilitated online.
The Police Service states prostitution is complex and it is hard to lay charges in relation to it, but add their highest priorities are cases that involve minors.
