Man dead after crash near Priddis

Calgary EMS is crediting a man who was killed in a rollover just southwest of the city Monday morning, with taking steps to prevent his baby daughter’s death.

A woman in her 20s and a two-month-old baby girl were outside of the vehicle and taken to hospital only as a precaution, but the driver, a man in his 20s was pronounced dead on scene, on a gravel road near Priddis.

EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux says everyone was properly secured.

“It is believe that all occupants, both adults and the infant, were properly restrained in the vehicle,” Brideaux explained.

“Some of the passenger windows may have been opened and that’s one of the factors RCMP may be looking into, in terms of why the male passenger was partially ejected. However, it was a complete rollover mechanism.”

Brideaux adds, while it’s tragic the young man lost his life, the infant’s life was likely saved by being properly secured in her car seat.
