Local charity trying to make children’s dreams come true

A local organization that takes children to Disneyland is hosting an event to help raise money to continue helping children’s dreams come true.

Dreams Take Flight, a not-for-profit organization, is holding the 20th annual Black Tie and Blue Jeans Stampede Gala Sunday evening.

Ian Campbell from the 660 newsroom had the chance to go on the trip last year.

“All these kids, who have had mental, physical or social challenges get the opportunity to go to Disneyland for the day,” Campbell said. “When I was asked to be part of the crew and help document this and show Calgary what a wonderful time these kids had, it was unbelievable.”

Campbell added on his trip the kids started off shy and timid, but by the end of the trip they opened up and this experience won’t be something they’d soon forget.

The event begins at 5:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Hotel downtown.
