Thousands head to Chinook Centre for annual Stampede breakfast

Thousands dusted off their boots, grabbed their hats and headed down to the biggest Stampede breakfast at Chinook Centre mall in the south for their 55th annual event, where they were expecting a crowd of up to 60,000 this year.

Besides the pancakes, sausages and fresh coffee, there was entertainment from country stars Aaron Lines, Tim Huss and Trinity Bradshaw.

They also expanded their Kiddie Land for the little ones and are hoping to raise about $15,000 for the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

All three federal political leaders, Prime Minister Harper, the Liberals’ Justin Trudeau and the NDP’s Tom Mulcair were also at the mall, serving up pancakes and talking to supporters.
