Final countdown to Stampede Parade

It’s just days until the Calgary Stampede Parade, and preparations are well underway.

The big event runs Friday morning, and Parade Chair Mayne Root says an incredible amount of people are involved in putting the event together.

“The actual entries in the parade, there’s normally between 3,500 and 4,000 people. We have over 700 horses normally, we have on the parade committee itself, we have 130 people on the committee on a full-time basis,” Root said.

He says this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Indian Princess Program; so, many of the past princesses will be marching in the parade.

The festivities start at 7:30 a.m., and will march right through downtown.
