Cycle track launch party brings bikes to the Beltline

The wet weather didn’t stop cyclists coming out to the cycle track launch party in the Beltline Sunday.

This women encourages everyone to use them.

“It’s like being in a safety city, your going to feel so great, your protected your not going to get swiped by somebody opening their car door, yeah it’s really fun and there are lots of cute boys on the track too so that’s nice.”

This man believes those who aren’t cycling will start because the tracks make it so easy and most importantly safe.

“Cycle tracks are not built for the people who are already cycling, cycle tracks are built for the people who are not cycling, and we know from the research all around the world that if you build them that people use them. The numbers are quite strong. Calgary is full of smart active people who are looking for convenience, I’m quite sure they will support it quite strongly.”

The family friendly event included all sorts of different bikes, local music and delicious food.

Councillor’s Evan Woolley, Druh Farrell, also made an appearance thanking everyone for their support.
