Canada Sports Hall of Fame inducts ski twins in Legends Class

It is the 60th anniversary of The Canada Sports Hall of Fame and this year for the first time they will induct two class groups.

Marnie Krell, spokesperson for the Canada Sports Hall of Fame, told 660News, along with the class of 2015 they will honour the Canadian Sports Legend Class.

“The three living legends, are actually all women. It’s Barbara Howard, Rhona and Rohda Wertele, they’re sisters and they both competed in alpine skiing so the three of them will actually be here and present and they are in their early nineties and it will be just amazing,” Krell said. “The Canada sports legends class are individuals who their accomplishments came primarily before 1955.”

The other 23 sports legend inductees that passed away will be represented by family at Wednesday’s event, held at The Canada Olympic Park.

They will also honour the sports legends by devoting a new gallery to them at Canada Olympic Park that will feature rare artifacts, photos, and videos from almost 150 years of Canadian Sports.

The gallery will be open to the public on Thursday.
