Morning commuters likely did a double take around 12th Avenue and 8th Street Monday morning, when they spotted a man walking on top of a transit bus.
Police were called to the area around 8:20 a.m. when the first reports came in of the man running into traffic, he then climbed a light pole and jumped on to the roof of the bus.
Detective Graeme Smiley tells 660News they believe it was a mental health issue, or drugs, or possibly both.
“Officers encoutered this person and were able to hold them and ultimately transfer them to hospital in order that they get some medical attention,” explained Smiley.
“But fortunately there were no injuries as a result.”
The windshield of a police cruiser was broken during the ordeal.
