A tanker truck carrying approximately 55,000 liters of fuel caught on fire near Cochrane on Sunday.
Cochrane fire crews responded to a vehicle on fire on Highway 22 and Sunset Blvd around 2:20 p.m., after the driver of the tanker heard a small explosion and pulled over.
According to a news release, the engine compartment caught on fire first and then quickly spread to the cab of the truck.
Once Cochrane fire crews arrived, they were able to get the fire under control quickly, before it was able to reach the fuel tanks.
No one was injured.
The truck was delivering fuel to a gas station in the community of Sunset.
It’s believed the truck’s oil temperature and water temperature were extremely hot, and could have caused the engine to catch on fire.
