Meow Foundation offers free spay and neuter

A Calgary cat rescue is hosting a free ‘Spay Day’ to help low-income cat owners with the cost of spay and neuter surgeries.

Jake Forrest with the Meow Foundation tells 660News, this is the time of year all the shelters are inundated with kittens.

“We are still trying to make a dent in the overpopulation problem of cats in the city of Calgary. We get two hundred applications per month. Slowly but surely, hopefully we will (make a dent) but it’s the same problem every spring,” says Forrest.

To date, the Foundation has carried out more than 12 thousand spays and neuters.

Residents of the Forest Lawn area, Southview, Erin Woods and Dover can head down to register from 10 to 6 p.m.

Registration is at ArtBox at 1807 – 42nd St. S.E.

If you don’t live in those areas and you need help, you can also contact the Foundation directly.
