As the city prepares to open its new cycle track at the end of June, they are also putting up no-parking signs.
To put in the lanes physically separating motorists from those on bicycles, officials have had to remove some parking spaces.
While officials are promising spaces will be added elsewhere, many Calgarians frustrated with the changes being made.
The city estimates 11,000 bikes come in and out of downtown Calgary everyday.
It’s a number a local man doesn’t quite believe.
“Three people are going to use this cycle track. Really — it’s not a very good idea. There’s better ways to spend our money,” he said.
Another man told City News he’s not sure officials are listening.
“I think they’ve already written the report and decided it’s going to be a success. I don’t think it’s going to be a big surprise when they do deem it a success,” he said
The cost of the project is just under $10-million.
