Relax the body, free the mind with “floating”

The busier your life gets the more important it is to take care of your health, both physically and mentally and one way to do that is to try the latest trend: “floating”!

A new company in Kensington called FloatLife aims to help you enter a state of deep relaxation as you float in a pod on top of 1,200 pounds of Epsom salts in 11 inches of water for about an hour.

The company’s Dustin Ryan says the first question many people ask is how they maintain the cleanliness of the water and he tells 660News, it starts with people taking a shower before they pop into the pod.

He adds, “After the person has floated, they get out of the pod, they have a shower and while they’re showering the pod filters for half an hour, so it goes through a one micron filter six times and it also gets treated with UV, ozone and hydrogen peroxide.”

The other most asked question is about claustrophobia, however, the pods are quite large at 8.5 feet by 5.5 feet.

FloatLife is located at #102-1422 Kensington Road, N.W. and packages range from $75 to $39.
