Stamps season ticket sales up, despite oil slump

The Calgary Stampeders are still riding high after the Grey Cup win last season, and it’s showing in the upcoming season’s ticket sales.
Officials say rumours struggling oil companies have dropped their Stamps seats are simply not true.
Stampeders President Gordon Norrie says they haven’t felt the economic slowdown one bit.
“We’ve got 2110 absolute brand new season ticket holders, and we’re up at this point in time, about 3200 over last year,” he said.
Norrie says they’ve had a significant number of group sales.
“Oil companies are part of that fold and every year, you know, we lose some, and then we gain some, but we haven’t felt anything extraordinary associated with economic pullback,” he said.
He says the boost can also be attributed to great leadership, player performance, and improvements to MacMahon Stadium.
Something for fans to look forward to this year: the paving of the north end zone, where 250 spectators will be able to enjoy games from field level.
Norrie adds there are still some great season tickets up for grabs.
