Wildrose leader worried about Alberta ‘accidentally’ electing NDP

CALGARY – Wildrose Party Leader Brian Jean is reaching out to PC supporters to help prevent voters from, in his words, “accidentally” electing an NDP majority in Tuesday’s election.

Jean told reporters at a campaign stop in Calgary that only the Wildrose can prevent NDP Leader Rachel Notley from winning the election.

He says if Albertans split the vote between Wildrose and the governing Progressive Conservatives, they will end up with an NDP government which would hurt the province’s economic position.

Jean expects the New Democrats to sweep Edmonton and suggests it is up to Calgary and rural Alberta to stop an NDP majority.

The Wildrose leader says he doesn’t tend to follow polls but adds they do show a trend.

He says the Wildrose party is either in first or second and the PCs are too far behind to mount any kind of a comeback.
