A 25-year-old woman has died following a crash on Macleod Trail early Saturday morning.
She is the second victim of the crash, and has been identified as Jillian Lavallee.
Amritpal Kharbanda, the 46-year-old cab driver who was in the vehicle with Lavallee when the taxi was hit, was also killed in the crash.
Twenty-year-old Ali Alajandro Montoya has been charged with one count of impaired driving causing death, as well as two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm.
But, police said in a press release, the second death will likely lead to upgraded charges.
At around 2 a.m. Saturday morning, emergency crews were called to Macleod Trail and 12th Ave S.E., where they found three vehicles involved in the collision.
It’s alleged that the taxi was hit by Montoya, who ran a red light in his Escalade.
A 64-year-old man suffered serious injuries in the crash, and was taken to hospital. Two other people involved in the accident suffered minor injuries as well.
