Spur Festival talks Alberta election

Danielle Smith made a public appearance Sunday night, musing about the future of Alberta politics.

While she did not speak to the media, she was part of a panel at the Spur Festival.

She said, no matter who wins this election, Alberta is in serious trouble.

Duane Bratt, Mount Royal University Political Scientist, told City News, why the conversation is so important.

“When you’re making a vote, sometimes it’s for a year, but it could be much longer than that,” he said. “We need to look at the impact on the future because there is a certain path dependency. Decisions made now will affect decisions in the future.”

Smith and Bratt both agree that NDP Leader Rachel Notley is the talk of the political town, and is quickly rising in popularity.
