Flames look ahead to the Ducks in 2nd round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs

With Saturday night’s big win over the Canucks, the Flames have now booked themselves a 2nd round series with the Anaheim Ducks.

The Ducks, who finished 1st in the NHL Western Conference this season, are coming off a 4 game sweep of the Jets.

One of the biggest hurdles for the Flames will be to get a win in Anaheim, where they’ve lost 20 straight games.

Sportsnet 960 the Fan’s Rob Kerr tells 660News, this team is a whole different animal than the Canucks.

“This is a team that is thought to be going to the post season in the first place, this is a team built for the post season … I think we all saw what they did to Winnipeg … that was a 4 game sweep … they’re a challenge.”

Flames’ goaltender Jonas Hiller, who spent the majority of his career in Anaheim before leaving as a free agent last summer said it will be a daunting task.

“They definitely have some size and skill … they play pretty consistent to their system and there’s a reason they finished 1st in the conference … I think with our speed we have a chance but we will need to ready and even better than the Vancouver series.”

Game 1 is expected to start by the end of next week, likely Thursday or Friday but nothing official yet.
