Party leaders gear up in Calgary for provincial vote homestretch

Alberta candidates are nearing the final stretch of the election campaign trail and the second last weekend before the vote is well underway.

The NDP started off Saturday morning at former city councillor Joe Ceci’s office for a campaign blitz.

Leader Rachel Notley said while Thursday’s televised debate was a good boost in some late polls, she’s taking the results with a grain of salt.

“Polls go up and down just like the price of oil goes up and down and the key thing is to plan and do your work regardless of what happens,” Notley said.

The NDP is scheduled to end Saturday in Red Deer.

The governing Progressive Conservatives and Jim Prentice planned to spend all of Saturday in Calgary at various events.

The Liberals, along with leader David Swann, planned to do some door knocking.

Wildrose Leader, Brian Jean spent the day further north in Fort McMurray.
