Three E. coli cases in Calgary likely linked to leafy greens

Alberta Health confirms three people from Calgary have contracted E. coli.

They’re part of an outbreak in a number of provinces, linked to possible contamination of leafy greens.

Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. James Talbot tells 660News, there are also several similar cases south of the border. “Well, the investigation is still in progress,” he said.
“The hypothesis is that it’s a product that originated in the U.S. and it’s been shipped to Canada.

Nine positive tests have come back in Alberta. There are also cases in Saskatchewan, Ontario and Newfoundland.

A number of people have also tested positive for E. coli in some American states.

So far, the Public Health Agency of Canada has yet to pinpoint the specific source of the illnesses, but is reminding people to wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly, and clean counters, cutting boards, and your hands.
