CPS continue to investigate officer-involved shooting in downtown Calgary

Charges have yet to be laid and Calgary police continue to investigate after an officer shot a man downtown nearly two weeks ago.

Back on March 21st, an officer opened fire on the man in an alley near City Hall, after people attending an anti-racism rally said he shouted “white power” at them and ran when police approached.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is investigating the actions of police and have said the man grabbed a pipe before he was shot.

While Calgary police haven’t laid charges in this case, a man shot by RCMP in Wetaskiwin was charged Wednesday with several offences.

The current condition of the man shot, identified by friends as Morgan Thompson, isn’t known, but those that knew him said he was clinging to life in hospital.
