Teen remains in serious condition after getting hit by Hummer

A Calgary teen remains in hospital in serious condition after being struck by a Hummer SUV in the northeast.

The 16-year-old was walking on Beddington Blvd approaching Beddington Drive when he was hit by the Hummer and knocked to the ground around 7:45 Monday morning.

Emergency crews say he was walking around and alert, but then the Hummer was rear-ended by a white Hyundai Tucson, causing the SUV to move forward and hit the boy again.

The teen was transported to hospital after suffering significant soft-tissue and internal injuries and was taken to the Foothills Medical Centre.

Neither driver was injured and charges are pending against the driver of the Hyundai, while it’s unclear if the same will happen to the driver of the Hummer.

Alcohol and speed are not considered a factor in this collision.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
