Pop up cafe wants to keep Calgarians from bitter investments

The Alberta Securities Commission is asking Calgarians to wake up and smell the coffee.

They are setting up at Cafe Rosso on Stephen Avenue Thursday morning to remind people to check before they invest.

They’ll be serving free “fraud-iccinos” and “lost dream lattes” from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the first 100 customers receiving a free CheckFirst mug.

Representatives will also be handing out a checklist of red flags for bad investments, with tips on how not to get burned.

According to the ASC, 30 per cent of Albertans believe they’ve been approached with a fraudulent investment.
