There will be a spotlight on government waste Wednesday, as the Canadian Taxpayers’ Federation hosts its annual Teddy Awards.
Pig statuettes are given out to a person or government program which is deemed to have wasted taxpayer money.
There are four categories: Federal, Provincial, Local, and Lifetime Achievement.
For instance, last year’s Federal Teddy was issued to Employment and Development Canada, after they spent $2.5-million in advertising during the Stanley Cup playoffs for a jobs program that didn’t even exist at the time.
