Group of Calgarians become another attraction at brier

It’s the big game at the Brier today, with two Calgary rinks facing off.

Team Canada’s John Morris Squad and Alberta’s Kevin Koe are both based out of the Glencoe Club, and they’ll meet in the evening draw.

There to cheer them on will be another of the Brier attractions,The Sociables.

They’re the group of a dozen or so Calgarians who dress up in different costumes every day and help get the fans pumped up.

Nathan Woynarski says the group is not taking sides.

“For us, we’re here to watch all curling, whether it’s New Brunswick or Alberta or Saskatchewan,” Woynarski said. “We’re here to watch all the curling and just cheer on great curling. Whoever wins this becomes Team Canada, and that’s all you want, is Canada to do well when we go to the World’s.”

They’ll be easy to spot, as the sociables will be dressed up like ‘The Swedish Chef’ from ‘The Muppet Show’.

Koe and Morris begin their face-off at 6:30 p.m.
