Members of the LGBTQ community will be sharing stories of being gay within the church.
The organizers of Coming Out Monologues YYC are teaming up with the Hillhurst United Church this year to showcase tales from a faith or spiritual perspective.
The show will be staged on March 27.
“No other group has been so specifically shamed by religion in our time then LGBTQ people, and so it’s so important to not only honor the sadness of those stories that have happened and that continue to happen, but also create a space to say those negative voices aren’t the only ones,” said Church Spokesperson Pam Rocker
Rocker says we need to make it clear; there are safe spaces, belief systems, and people who celebrate all people’s identities.
Coming Out Monologues YYC’s annual show will run at the John Dutton Theatre for three nights starting March 18.
