After being spoiled for weeks, winter weather is back in Calgary

Our warm weather has sadly come to an end.

Calgarians woke up to an abrupt reminder of winter this morning.

We spoke to duty inspector Ryan Alyth, who reminds drivers to use caution.

“Drive appropriately based on the condition on the road. Understand other drivers will be doing the same thing and hopefully we can avoid an influx of accidents,” Alyth said.

Saturday got off to a rough start as drivers were tied up after multiple crashes on Deerfooot, Crowchild, and Stoney Trails.

City crews continue to clear priority one routes and will move on to residential areas over the next few days.

“They complete the priority ones within the first 24 hours and then they move into collector and seeder roads, in and out of communities, and those have to be completed within 48 hours and then after that, that’s when they get into residential areas,” said spokesperson Jessica Bell.

The City of Calgary has not issued a parking ban.
