Passengers step in to stop robbery on LRT train

A would-be robber got more than he bargained for after trying to pull off a robbery on the LRT Tuesday night.

It seems he assumed everyone else on the train would stand by and let it happen, but they didn’t.

Detective Jack Russell told 660News it all started at 7:45 p.m.

“The main offender boarded the LRT train at Sunnyside station,” he said.

That’s when the suspect tried to rob a man, but the thief wasn’t counting on a trio of brave citizens coming to the man’s aid.

They confronted the crook, completely undeterred by a knife and a can of bear spray he waved at them.

They were able to disarm and subdue him until police got on scene.

“The offender was taken in custody,” said Russell. “Multiple charges are expected.”

Amazingly, no one was injured during the incident.
