Bill Cosby show in Kitchener, ON ends with standing ovation

After much controversy, protest, and security, the legendary and embattled comedian Bill Cosby performed in Kitchener Wednesday night.

The night started with two dozen protesters arriving about an hour before the show in -28 degree weather with signs that read “Rape is no joke” and “I believe the 27 women.”

Some protesters confronted those attending the show shouting “you support rape in our community” or “shame on you.”

One woman was even asked why she was attending the show when she admitted to being a rape victim.

When leaving the theatre, attendees were greeted with the group chanting, “I hope you had a great time, rape is still a crime.”

The show itself was peaceful though with no interruptions throughout. Before the lights were dimmed and everyone settled, an audio warning was played saying that if any disruptions were to occur, attendees were to ignore the disruption and security would deal with the matter.

Security guards were placed at the front of the stage and throughout the theatre. In total, five Waterloo Regional Police officers attended.

Cosby was greeted on stage by a half full theatre with cheers and laughter. The jovial spirit of attendees continued throughout the performance ending with a standing ovation.

Overall, there were no violent incidents, no major disturbances and besides a few people being told to put their phones away during the show, the night ended peacefully.
