Stuffed critters fly at annual Teddy Bear Toss

25,214 stuffed animals descended on the ice at the Scotiabank Saddledome Sunday.

Radel Fazleev scored that first goal for the Hitmen against the Moose Jaw Warriors Sunday to begin the 20th Annual Teddy Bear Toss.

Last year’s event landed over 20,000 stuffed critters and with footage of the game aired on Jimmy Kimmel.

Hitmen rookie head coach Mark French told 660News players, fans and coaches all love these kind of events. “I think it’s an opportunity. Some things are bigger than hockey. These are one of the events that really demonstrates unselfishness and the ability to be a part of the community” French said, “This event really epitomizes that”.

All the bears go to local charities to be given to kids in need this Christmas.

The ones headed to the Alberta Children’s Hospital will be delivered personally by Hitmen players on Monday.
