Patient with potential contagious illness transferred to South Health Campus

Extra precautions are being taken at the South Health Campus in Calgary for a woman who was transferred from Peter Lougheed Hospital with a potential contagious illness.

James Stevenson, a spokesperson for Alberta Health Services, confirms the patient was transferred Wednesday evening.

The health authority has enacted specific infection prevention and control protocols that including cleaning and disinfection.

While the type of illness has not been confirmed, AHS states they are taking steps to make sure any risk to the public or staff is extremely low.

The identity of the patient and other details will be withheld until a diagnosis can be made.
