CTrain service back to normal after ‘difficult’ day for Calgary Transit

Things are back to normal along the C-Train line in downtown Calgary after three separate incidents caused slowdowns Thursday.

The first was an early morning collision between a transit train and a pickup truck at 4th Avenue and 9th Street Southwest.

No one was hurt but the collision did cause delays for motorists and transit users.

The second incident sent a teenager to hospital with serious injuries after he was struck by a train at the City Hall LRT station at around 5 p.m.

Then, during the dinner hours, a train derailed at the same station where the teen was hit.

The lead train car left the tracks and came to rest partially on the platform.

Calgary Transit tweeted early Friday morning that everything had been cleared up and train service was running as usual.

A spokesperson says this was one of the “most difficult days” in recent memory for Calgary Transit.
