Red Ribbon campaign for safe driving kicks off for 27th year

Supporters of sober driving during the holiday season gathered Thursday to once again mark an important reminder.

Thursday is the start of the 27th Annual Red Ribbon campaign, a small but powerful commitment to sober driving, reminding people of the deaths and injuries that result from impairment-related crashes.

Minister Jonathan Denis spoke to survivors Thursday afternoon at the Whitehorn Multiservices Centre.

“Each one of you is a very courageous person,” he said. “You’re not sitting at home, you’re out here supporting each other but perhaps more importantly, you’re out here wanting to ensure that what is the unfortunate things that have happened to your loved ones don’t happen to other people.”

Ribbons will be available in the city until January 5th.
