Findings from a fresh research project on pollution from the oilsands have found some of the lowest levels of lead a University of Alberta researcher has ever seen.
Water expert Bill Shotyk tells the Edmonton Journal he looked at moss, a natural air filter, to shed light on which pollution causes are naturally occurring and which are industrial.
Shotyk took on the study after reading a 2010 report, by another U of A researcher, blaming industry for heavy metals in the Athabasca River.
These latest findings are contradictory, claiming there is no airborne lead pollution in the oilsands region.
