National Music Centre October construction update

A local venue that amplifies the love, sharing and understanding of music continues to be built as part of the gateway to Calgary’s East Village.

The west-block concrete slabs have been poured and the structural steel and skeleton frame of iconic-blues venue, the King Eddy is now complete as part of its rebuild.

National Music Centre CEO, Andrew Mosker told 660News there’s still a lot of work to do next year.

He says the work includes, “Finishing the structure, closing off the building, getting the insides framed and getting the drywall and the by-pass framing and all the steel studwork done so that you can actually see the individual spaces starting to take shape and the team is mobilizing now, as we speak, to actually start the framing on the east block, so that’s a new development since we spoke last.”

Mosker adds the ceiling in the performance hall will be made out of hanging steel rods and its image will look like a cloud!

The National Music Centre is set to open in the spring of 2016 and is located on 9th Ave., and 4th St., S.E.
