Oklahoma beheading suspect released from hospital; was shot during attack on 2 women

NORMAN, Okla. – A man accused of beheading a woman at a U.S. processing plant has been released from the hospital.

Alton Nolen is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 54-year-old Colleen Hufford. The 30-year-old is also charged with assault for allegedly attacking another employee on Thursday before he was shot by a plant manager.

Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Meghan McCormick says Nolen was released from a local hospital at midday Wednesday and is being held at the county jail.

Hufford’s relatives made their first public comments on the attack Wednesday, saying in a statement that her violent death is difficult to comprehend but they’re thankful for the support from friends and family.
