Calgary universities get poor grades on freedom of speech

Pro-life protests and pamphlets over the past year have cost two Calgary post-secondary schools marks in a report about free speech.
That from the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms which has released it’s annual report card on campus freedoms.
Spokesperson Michael Kennedy says both the University of Calgary and Mount Royal had altercations with people passing out pro-life literature.
“We reported in the Campus Freedom Index, 15 student unions have banned campus groups because of the content of their expressions, or the the philosophy behind their beliefs. And in a majority of those cases, those have been pro-life clubs,” said Kennedy.
In total, 24 campuses in this year’s report received at least one letter grade of “F”.
